Toronto, Canada

Toronto is the largest city closest to when we live most of the time now. We enjoy visiting Toronto often as it has such a wonderful vibe, amazing food and incredible people.

Toronto has many attractions and restaurants to name and we are always exploring and adding new as we see fit. Dario is also working downtown as coordinator of the Italian Cuisine Post Diploma program for chefs and get to visit more often but we both love to visit when we can.

Here are some of our highlights.

By Anita Heidema & Chef Dario Tomaselli with Passion Is Cooking

Restaurants

  • Alo – 163 Spadina Ave, Toronto. French tasting menu served in stylish, serene surrounds atop a Victorian building.

  • Don Alfonzo– 19 Toronto St, Toronto. New to Toronto in August 2018. Fine elegance and delicious food. In the old Rosewater Restaurant if you know it.

  • Local Kitchen & Wine Bar– 1710 Queen St West, Toronto. Cozy place serving Italian fare & wines plus local vintage.

  • DaiLo– 503 College St, Toronto. Asian brasserie & snack bar with French- inspired Chinese fare & dim sum.

Attractions

  • CN Tower– 301 Front St West, Toronto. Must see and great view above the city. You can visit the revolving restaurant at the top and reservations are best for 360 Restaruant. If you are adventurous you can go to the very top and see the glass bottom floor or/and EdgeWalk that has you outside the tower thrill 116 floors high. Yikes. We haven’t done that one yet.

  • Ripleys Aquarium– 288 Bremner Blvd, Toronto. A real treat and just below the CN Tower. If you love marine life this is the place to go with moving floors as you explore aquariums all around you and hands on areas.

  • Distillery District– Distillery District, Toronto. 13 acres of cafes, restaurants,  and shops housed within heritage buildings of former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. National Historical Site and wonderful to visit especially during the Christmas Market and a sunny day. Free to visit.

  • St Lawrence Market– 93 Front Sr E, Toronto. St Lawrence Market was rated one of the best food markets in the world. Well in our opinion we love to go see the new fresh findings and food. Top notch produce and product for every cooking need. You will also see people having the well known Italian sandwich creations and well known peameal bacon sandwich. We might be doing some cooking classes her for our International Dinner Club. Free to visit.

  • Casa Loma- 1 Austin Terrace, Toronto. A beautiful castle to visit with story and a twist. This has always been a magical place to visit with it’s architecture, gardens and newest restaurant Blue Blood. We have not visited Blue Blood as of yet but Casa Loma is a must see when in Toronto if you love castles.

  • ROM Museum-  100 Queens Park, Toronto. The Toronto museum is a wonderful display of old and new. Nice to see what special events they have on as well when you are in town.

  • Toronto offers a City Pass with a deal for the main attractions- Save 36% on 5 top attractions. See if it is a value for you if as it includes many of the above we mention. They also mention the Toronto Zoo and Ontario Science Center if you like this. Also great attractions to visit with extra time in Toronto.
